Henderson Silver Knights clinch Calder Cup playoff spot with dramatic late rally

The Henderson Silver Knights are heading to the Calder Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2022, thanks to a stunning comeback Saturday night at Lee’s Family Forum.

Trailing 4-3 with less than two minutes remaining, the Silver Knights scored twice in the final 1:26 to defeat the Tucson Roadrunners 5-4. The win, which needed to come in regulation to secure a postseason berth, was sealed by defenseman Dylan Coghlan’s tying goal with 1:26 left on the clock after goaltender Carl Lindbom was pulled for an extra attacker. Winger Braeden Bowman then netted his second goal of the night with just 15 seconds remaining, giving Henderson its second straight last-minute victory.

The Silver Knights improved to 35-20-11 and moved into fourth place in the Pacific Division with six games remaining. They have gone 11-1-1 in their last 13 contests.

Friday’s 4-3 win over Tucson also came on a late goal, with defenseman Viliam Kmec scoring with less than 30 seconds left.
