With one month left in the regular season, the Review-Journal has released its latest spring sports rankings for Southern Nevada high schools. Bishop Gorman leads the Class 5A baseball rankings with a 16-4 record, while Palo Verde tops the Class 5A softball poll at 8-1. In boys volleyball, Centennial holds the No. 1 spot in Class 5A with a 23-5 mark.
Baseball
In Class 5A, Bishop Gorman (16-4) is followed by Basic (9-7), Faith Lutheran (10-8), Palo Verde (14-6), Centennial (17-8), Arbor View (20-4), Desert Oasis (16-6-1), Green Valley (17-5), Foothill (14-8), and Liberty (11-11). In Class 4A, Clark (14-5) leads ahead of Silverado (13-8-1), Mater East (16-4), Doral Academy (13-3), and Cheyenne (13-4). Class 3A is topped by Pahrump Valley (9-8), followed by Virgin Valley (12-4), Boulder City (9-8), The Meadows (7-10), and Moapa Valley (7-10).
Key games this week include a Tuesday matchup between Basic and Green Valley, and an Arbor View at Faith Lutheran game Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Softball
In Class 5A softball, Palo Verde (8-1) leads Arbor View (14-6), Shadow Ridge (12-3), Coronado (6-5), and Bishop Gorman (8-8-2). Class 4A is headlined by Faith Lutheran (15-1), followed by Desert Oasis (8-1), SECTA (13-2), Spring Valley (9-3), and Cimarron-Memorial (8-1). Pahrump Valley (19-5) tops Class 3A, with Virgin Valley (10-8), Moapa Valley (6-7), Boulder City (4-8), and The Meadows (6-7) rounding out the top five.
Notable games include Coronado at Bishop Gorman on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and a Friday showdown between Centennial and Palo Verde.
Boys Volleyball
Centennial (23-5) holds the No. 1 spot in Class 5A boys volleyball, followed by Palo Verde (11-2), Arbor View (18-5), Shadow Ridge (11-5), and Basic (16-7). In Class 4A, Desert Oasis (13-8) leads Del Sol (10-8), Mojave (16-9), Cadence (19-6), and Bonanza (8-7). Coral Academy (14-7) tops Class 3A, with Boulder City (11-9), Moapa Valley (10-11), Virgin Valley (6-14), and The Meadows (5-9) behind.
Key volleyball matches include Basic at Arbor View on Tuesday and Shadow Ridge at Centennial on Thursday, both at 6 p.m.
