A junior varsity basketball game between Mojave High School and Democracy Prep descended into chaos Wednesday evening when a fight broke out on the court at Mojave High School in North Las Vegas.
Video footage captured by Las Vegas Review-Journal Photographer Madeline Carter showed multiple individuals pushing and shoving during the boys basketball game. As of 7 p.m. Wednesday, no injuries had been reported, and police were seen responding to the incident.
The Clark County School District confirmed the altercation in an emailed statement Thursday, noting that officers assigned to the game helped de-escalate the situation. “CCSD is aware of a reported altercation at the end of a junior varsity basketball game between Mojave High School and a non-CCSD charter school,” the statement read. “Officers assigned to the athletic event worked with the school administration to de-escalate the matter. The varsity game continued on schedule and without incident.”
