Centennial girls roll; Shadow Ridge boys edge Tech in Monday hoops

Monday’s high school basketball and flag football action featured blowout wins and a nail-biter, with Centennial’s girls dominating Virgin Valley and Shadow Ridge’s boys escaping with a three-point victory.

Girls basketball

Centennial senior Nation Williams scored 12 points as the Bulldogs seized control in the second quarter en route to a 74-39 win over Virgin Valley. Mojave freshman A’yanna Johnson tallied 17 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 59-23 rout of Durango.

Shadow Ridge crushed Palo Verde 60-25, while Green Valley beat Eldorado 41-21. Beaver Dam defeated Liberty Baptist 46-18, and Indian Springs overwhelmed Baker 45-4.

Boys basketball

Shadow Ridge edged Tech 66-63 in the closest contest of the night. Legacy junior Jordyn Perdue scored a game-high 25 points in a 64-53 win over Arbor View. Sunrise Mountain senior Anthony Brinson posted 13 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Miners past Pahrump Valley 90-61.

Cheyenne junior Phoenix Dalton poured in 21 points in a 63-31 victory over Chaparral. Beaver Dam beat Liberty Baptist 57-36, Innovations International topped Amplus Academy 63-44, and Indian Springs defeated Baker 59-39.

Flag football

Cimarron-Memorial shut out Sunrise Mountain 58-0, and Desert Oasis beat Green Valley 27-13.
