Shadow Ridge’s Jaslyn Jefferson drops 40 points in 86-5 rout of Desert Pines

Wednesday’s high school sports slate featured a pair of lopsided girls basketball scores in Southern Nevada, with Shadow Ridge senior Jaslyn Jefferson putting on a show.

Jefferson compiled 40 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks as the Mustangs crushed Desert Pines 86-5. The victory highlighted a day that included several blowouts across the valley.

In other girls basketball action, Losee freshman Jordynn Riggins scored 22 points in a 75-3 win over Rancho. Las Vegas freshman Sakaara Ashton knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists in a 75-54 victory against Tech.

Cimarron-Memorial junior Jasmine Ponce posted 20 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, four steals and three blocks in a 60-30 win over Doral Academy. Sunrise Mountain senior Delyla Ross had 23 points in a 56-14 win against Chaparral.

Other winners included Bishop Gorman (73-29 over Coronado), Del Sol (67-32 over Green Valley), Faith Lutheran (62-32 over Legacy), and Clark (55-37 over Spring Valley).

On the flag football field, Arbor View junior Danielle Morales rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown and added 38 receiving yards and another score in a 38-13 win over Coronado. Bishop Gorman sophomore Charlice Weingarten recorded three sacks and two tackles in a 38-18 victory against Foothill.

Sky Pointe sophomore Carly Martell carried 15 times for 117 yards to help the Eagles shut out Cheyenne 21-0. Centennial junior Andrea Mitchell had 10 solo tackles in a 6-0 win over Canyon Springs. Cadence junior Patricia Monacelli caught four passes for 66 yards and a touchdown and added two interceptions in a 6-0 victory against Boulder City.

In boys basketball, Boulder City beat Coral Academy 63-19 and Beaver Dam defeated Adelson School 47-32.
