Shadow Ridge QB Chloe Covington throws 4 TDs in rout of Bishop Gorman

Junior quarterback Chloe Covington threw for 192 yards and four touchdowns, adding 37 receiving yards, to lead Shadow Ridge to a 37-6 flag football victory over Bishop Gorman on Friday in Las Vegas.

Covington’s performance highlighted a busy night of prep sports across Southern Nevada, with key results in boys and girls basketball as well.

Flag football

Clark freshman Cassiah Banks caught six passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-14 win over Amplus Academy. Green Valley junior Janae Peebles completed 11 of 12 passes for 229 yards and four TDs as the Gators shut out Silverado 36-0. Arbor View junior Karah Foss went 11-of-16 for 138 yards and a TD in a 46-0 victory over Basic.

Spring Valley edged Durango 20-13 despite 198 passing yards and two TDs from Durango senior Leiah Bisococho.

Boys basketball

Tech sophomore Zhyier Smith scored 16 points in a balanced attack as the Roadrunners edged Chaparral 64-60. Arbor View junior Thaddeus Thatcher posted 18 points and 10 rebounds in an 83-52 win over Cimarron-Memorial.

Other notable scores: Boulder City beat Moapa Valley 63-41, Las Vegas edged Mater East 50-48, and Virgin Valley topped Pahrump Valley 58-52.

Girls basketball

Centennial senior Inieye Oruh scored 22 points in an 88-22 rout of Legacy. Palo Verde edged Cimarron-Memorial 48-45 despite 22 points from Spartans senior Kiera Kauhi. Del Sol sophomore Sabrina Stewart led the Dragons with 19 points in a 56-39 win over Basic.

Sierra Vista senior Kaylen-Marie Macagapal scored 10 points in a 71-25 victory over Durango. Tech junior Mila Vidacic had 12 points in a 52-21 win against Chaparral.
