Miles, Brewer lead Gorman-Democracy Prep doubleheader sweep

Bishop Gorman swept a home doubleheader against Democracy Prep on Wednesday, winning the girls game 62-51 and the boys contest 61-57.

Freshman Arianna Brewer powered the Gaels girls with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Democracy Prep’s Bray’ana Miles was held in check by the Gorman defense.

In flag football, Arbor View quarterback Karah Foss threw for 174 yards and three touchdowns in a 60-7 rout of Foothill. Canyon Springs’ Jalaigh Brooks completed 13 of 24 passes for 131 yards and a TD in a 26-14 win over Sky Pointe.

Centennial’s defense starred in a 6-0 flag football victory over Mojave, with Taylor Hockaday-Barreau intercepting three passes.

Boys basketball

Grant Moses scored 20 points for The Meadows in a 59-30 win over Boulder City. Bishop Gorman edged Democracy Prep 61-57.

Girls basketball

Kiera Kauhi tallied 20 points, six steals and five assists for Cimarron-Memorial in a 71-31 win over Rancho. Lauren Mueller notched 20 points and 13 rebounds for Boulder City in a 72-43 victory against The Meadows. Portland Stacey posted 18 points and 10 rebounds for Liberty in a 70-17 win over Legacy. Mila Vidacic had 16 points, five rebounds and five steals for Tech in a 60-44 win over Eldorado.

Flag football

Green Valley’s Lauryn Galvin caught six passes for 96 yards and a touchdown and returned an interception 82 yards for a score in a 41-0 win over Coral Academy. Shadow Ridge’s Ashlyn Mitchell was one of three Mustangs with two sacks in an 18-13 win over Liberty. Arbor View’s Karah Foss completed 21 passes for 174 yards and three TDs.
