Liberty holds top spot in 5A boys hoops; Shadow Ridge takes No. 1 in flag football

Liberty remains atop the Class 5A boys basketball rankings, while Shadow Ridge has climbed to No. 1 in Class 5A flag football in the latest Review-Journal prep rankings.

In boys basketball, Liberty (13-5) holds the top spot, followed by Bishop Gorman (11-7) at No. 2, up from last week. Democracy Prep (9-6) is third, Coronado (6-7) fourth, and Desert Pines (12-6) fifth.

Bishop Gorman’s girls team (13-1) stays at No. 1 in 5A girls basketball, with Democracy Prep (7-5) second and Centennial (8-4) third.

In flag football, Shadow Ridge (12-1) takes over the top spot in 5A, with Desert Oasis (9-1) second, Arbor View (13-1) third, Palo Verde (11-4) fourth, and Liberty (7-2) fifth.

Key games this week include Desert Pines vs. Democracy Prep in boys basketball Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Doolittle Community Center, and Bishop Gorman at Mojave the same night. In flag football, Shadow Ridge visits Coronado on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Other top-ranked teams include Clark (9-5) in 4A boys, The Meadows (11-5) in 3A boys, Mojave (12-4) in 4A girls, Virgin Valley (8-6) in 3A girls, and Virgin Valley (5-3) in 4A flag football.
