Freshman guard DJ Hunter poured in 19 points to lead Losee to a dominant 72-32 victory over Shadow Ridge on Thursday night at Shadow Ridge High School.
The Lions (12-8, 4-1 4A Mountain League) never trailed in the game, holding the Mustangs, ranked No. 4 in the Class 4A poll, to single-digit scoring in three of four quarters.
Kieran Daniel chipped in 13 points for Losee, which used a stifling defense to force numerous turnovers and turn them into transition baskets.
Shadow Ridge (18-6, 4-1) struggled to find any offensive rhythm against the Lions’ pressure. The Mustangs’ leading scorer, Alex Williams, was limited to a dunk in the first half.
Losee next hosts Western at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Shadow Ridge travels to No. 5 Legacy for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff Monday.
