Cimarron-Memorial’s Gill leads Spartans past Cheyenne in boys basketball

A 21-point performance from senior Dakari Gill helped Cimarron-Memorial build an early lead and hold on for a 78-70 boys basketball win over Cheyenne on Wednesday.

Gill also dished out five assists in the victory. The Spartans jumped ahead quickly and withstood a Cheyenne rally to secure the win.

In other boys basketball action, Bonanza got 22 points from senior Ashton Randall to beat Del Sol 64-53. Boulder City junior Levi Randall posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, plus five assists, two steals and two blocks, in a 65-31 rout of Coral Academy. Canyon Springs senior Gregory Paige contributed 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal in a 65-56 win over Foothill. The Meadows senior Grant Moses scored 20 points in a 69-47 victory against Virgin Valley.

On the girls side, Coronado senior Scarlet Lopez poured in a game-high 19 points to lead the Cougars past Legacy 64-19. Boulder City sophomore Lauren Mueller scored 16 points in a 57-52 loss to Coral Academy.

In flag football, Spring Valley junior Isabella Maia threw five touchdown passes in the first half of a 34-0 win over Amplus Academy. Green Valley senior Lauryn Galvin caught six passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns in a 25-0 shutout of Chaparral. Shadow Ridge senior Jaylani Palmer recorded three passing TDs, one rushing TD and an interception on defense in a 40-0 victory over Foothill. Arbor View junior Danielle Morales totaled 107 rushing yards and 83 receiving yards in a 41-19 win against Tech. Cadence senior Elise Kemble had 44 receiving yards, 10 tackles and two interceptions in a 29-0 win over Silverado. Palo Verde edged Desert Oasis 14-13.
