Frank Mariani, the former head football coach at Boulder City High School, was arrested Wednesday on 10 felony counts after an investigation into allegations involving minors, police said Thursday.
Mariani, 46, faces three counts of lewdness with a child aged 14 or 15 and seven counts of child abuse or neglect, according to a Boulder City Police Department news release.
The investigation began in early November 2025 after several minors reported that a coach had committed lewd acts upon them, the release stated.
In December, the mother of a player filed a complaint with police. Athena Gargill told the Boulder City Review that her son alleged Mariani made “disgusting” sexual comments and gestures around the team. Multiple other parents also came forward with allegations.
Mariani, who did not coach the team’s season-ending 39-6 playoff loss to Virgin Valley on Nov. 7, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
Boulder City High School principal Amy Wagner said in a message Thursday that Mariani will not be allowed on campus. As of Thursday, Nevada Department of Education records still listed Mariani as a licensed educator for the Clark County School District at Boulder City High School for the 2025-26 school year.
