Sierra Vista’s Daniel Bagwell named Coach of the Year as 2026 All-Southern Nevada flag football team released

The 2026 Nevada Preps All-Southern Nevada flag football team features standout players from Shadow Ridge, Arbor View, Desert Oasis, and other top programs, with Sierra Vista’s Daniel Bagwell earning Coach of the Year honors after leading the Mountain Lions to a 19-3 record and the Class 4A state championship — the school’s first flag football state title.

Shadow Ridge senior Jaylani Palmer, the 5A player of the year, headlines the first team after posting 1,886 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns, adding 1,197 passing yards and 18 touchdowns, and leading the state with 23 interceptions on defense. Teammate Mariah Stevens-Walden, also a senior, caught 104 passes for 1,094 yards and 14 touchdowns with 74 flag pulls and six interceptions.

Desert Oasis senior Akemi Higa led the state with 5,764 passing yards, completing 66.9 percent of her passes, and rushed for 1,043 yards and 10 touchdowns. Her twin sister, senior Akiko Higa, had 94 catches for 1,572 yards and 37 touchdowns. Junior Nariyah Williams anchored the defense with 84 flag pulls and nine interceptions.

Arbor View junior Karah Foss threw for 4,215 yards and 58 touchdowns, rushed for 17 scores, and recorded 75 flag pulls and 12 interceptions. Sophomore Dayana Matias led the state with 60 sacks and had 105 flag pulls, 70 for loss. Junior Danielle Morales led the state with 1,822 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns, added 1,343 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, and had 73 flag pulls.

Liberty freshman Charli Taylor completed 69.9 percent of her passes for 4,306 yards and 61 touchdowns. Sophomore Trishelle Tucay caught 150 passes for a state-leading 2,036 yards and 23 touchdowns, adding 22 sacks on defense. Sophomore Siaosina Le’au had 96 catches for 1,292 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Bishop Gorman senior Preseah Williams caught 114 passes for 1,544 yards and 22 touchdowns for the 5A state runner-up. Freshman Zehani English had 717 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, threw for 1,488 yards and 13 touchdowns, and grabbed six interceptions.

Green Valley senior Lyla Baxter, the 4A Sky League player of the year, had 1,976 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns, with 66 flag pulls and 19 interceptions. Sierra Vista’s Yauie Kahawaii-Pula, the 4A Mountain League player of the year, scored 24 total touchdowns and had 67 flag pulls and 10 interceptions for the 4A state champions. Junior Amaya Wusstig completed 67.3 percent of her passes for 3,038 yards and 43 touchdowns, adding 869 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.

The second team includes standout performers such as Clark freshman Cassiah Banks (112 catches, 1,814 yards, 35 touchdowns), Legacy junior Aniyah Burress (1,800 rushing yards, 2,203 passing yards, 51 combined touchdowns), and Green Valley senior Lauryn Galvin (137 catches, 2,020 yards, 20 touchdowns, 89 flag pulls, 18 sacks, seven interceptions).

Honorable mention selections include Shadow Ridge’s Bryanna Alia and Camden Finlinson, Liberty’s Kaily Batoon, and Arbor View’s Mia Rojas, among 29 players total.
