Adult film star Sarah Jackman, known professionally as Katie Morgan, found herself in the middle of a massive three-way pot during Day 1B of the World Series of Poker Main Event on Friday. The hand, which aired on ESPN, featured a flop that gave Jackman the nut straight but ultimately left her drawing dead against two opponents who improved to full houses.
The action unfolded in the final level of the day at the $10,000 buy-in No-limit Hold’em World Championship. Jackman held king-jack and flopped the nut straight on a queen-10-nine board. Boris Vaynberg made middle set with pocket 10s, and Niklas Deitmer of Germany had two-pair with queen-nine.
After Deitmer bet 3,000 chips on the flop, both Jackman and Vaynberg called. The turn brought the nine of clubs, giving Vaynberg and Deitmer each a full house while Jackman’s straight was no longer the best hand. Vaynberg, holding the superior full house (10s full of nines), led out for 8,000 chips and was called only by Deitmer. Jackman appeared to recognize her predicament, muttering “F it, declared” before tossing in chips to call.
The river was the king of diamonds, which did not change the hand rankings. Vaynberg bet 25,000 chips, prompting a brief tank from Deitmer before he called. Jackman quickly called as well. Vaynberg tabled his full house and collected a pot worth 115,600 chips. “Nice pot,” Jackman told Vaynberg.
Despite the costly hand, Jackman recovered to bag 104,900 chips by the end of the night — nearly double her starting stack. Vaynberg finished inside the top 100 with 148,800 chips, while Deitmer was left short with 27,500 chips. Day 1C of the Main Event continues Saturday at Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas.
