Dorofeyev’s OT heroics push Golden Knights past Ducks, 3-2

Pavel Dorofeyev scored his second goal of the night 4:10 into overtime to lift the Vegas Golden Knights to a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in Game 5 of their second-round series Tuesday at T-Mobile Arena.

The win gives Vegas a 3-2 series lead, with a chance to close out the series Thursday at Honda Center in Anaheim.

Dorofeyev also scored a power-play goal in the first period. His overtime winner came on a rebound, marking the first playoff overtime goal of his career.

Tomas Hertl broke a 1-1 tie 4:48 into the third period with his first 5-on-5 goal since Feb. 1. He had scored his first goal since March 4 in Game 4.

Anaheim tied it 2-2 with 3:05 remaining in regulation when defenseman Olen Zellweger beat goaltender Carter Hart glove side with a wrist shot.

Hart made 34 saves and improved to 6-0 in overtime in his playoff career.

The Knights played most of the game without defenseman Brayden McNabb, who received a game misconduct nine minutes into the first period for an interference call that injured Ducks center Ryan Poehling.

Dorofeyev left the game in the second period after blocking a shot from Ducks defenseman Jackson LaCombe with the inside of his right knee, but returned.

Vegas was already without captain Mark Stone (lower body) and defenseman Jeremy Lauzon (upper body).
