ANAHEIM, Calif. — Mitch Marner scored three consecutive goals for a natural hat trick, his first in the playoffs, as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Anaheim Ducks 6-2 on Friday to take a 2-1 series lead in the second-round matchup.
Marner, who added an assist for a four-point night, now leads the NHL with six goals and 13 points this postseason. Carter Hart stopped 30 shots for Vegas.
Shea Theodore opened the scoring at 1:06 of the first period, and Brayden McNabb made it 2-0 with a shorthanded goal at 12:13. Marner extended the lead with a power-play goal with 4.6 seconds left in the period, then added two more in the second at 9:19 and 17:56.
Captain Mark Stone left late in the first period with a lower-body injury. He attempted to return but felt discomfort and went back down the tunnel in the second period.
