Vegas Secures Home Ice for First Round After Ducks Fall to Wild

The Vegas Golden Knights will open the playoffs at T-Mobile Arena after the Anaheim Ducks lost 3-2 to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. Game 1 is expected Sunday, with the full schedule to be released later this week.

The Knights are guaranteed at least second place in the Pacific Division, regardless of Wednesday’s result against the Seattle Kraken. They can win the division with a single point against Seattle or if the Edmonton Oilers lose in any fashion to the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday.

Edmonton would claim the Pacific with a win of any kind combined with a Vegas regulation loss. The division winner will face the Utah Mammoth, who secured the Western Conference’s first wild card with a 5-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets.

If Vegas does not win the division, it will host either the Ducks or Los Angeles Kings as the No. 2 seed.
