Raiders, Lakers, UFC to anchor Shaquille O’Neal’s $24M youth complex in east Las Vegas

Shaquille O’Neal’s vision for a youth complex in east Las Vegas is taking shape, with the Raiders, Los Angeles Lakers, and UFC each contributing themed spaces to the $24 million facility. The 87,000-square-foot center, located near Lake Mead and Lamb boulevards, is half complete and on track for a 2027 opening.

O’Neal toured the site in early April alongside Raiders owner Mark Davis, UFC President Dana White, and leaders from partner organizations. The Raiders Foundation funded a multi-sport field bearing Raiders branding. The Lakers donated an indoor basketball court in purple and gold. The UFC’s contribution includes a mixed martial arts and boxing center, with plans to provide fighters for self-defense training.

“I’m grateful to our dynamic board, the donors, and the partners who have stepped up to make this vision a reality for the young people of Las Vegas,” O’Neal said in a statement. “This project shows what can happen when a community comes together with purpose.”

Perry Rogers, O’Neal’s business adviser and foundation treasurer, highlighted the personal connections behind the donations. “Jeanie Buss and the Lakers wrote a real check as well. It’s humbling,” he said. He noted that the Raiders Foundation director, Kari Uyehara, previously ran O’Neal’s foundation.

The facility will also house a Metropolitan Police Department substation, with an officer on site to build youth-police relationships. The naming campaign has reached 74% of its $5.4 million goal, with some rooms still available for sponsorship.

The complex is being developed by The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada and Communities in Schools of Southern Nevada. Six schools are within a block and a half, addressing what Rogers called an underserved area. “We need to be over there,” he said.
