Raiders earn top offseason grade in AFC West after aggressive roster rebuild

The Las Vegas Raiders have been the most active team in the AFC West this offseason, and according to one assessment, they have been the most effective as well.

General manager John Spytek has orchestrated a roster overhaul that has earned the Raiders an A grade, the highest in the division. The Broncos received a B, the Chiefs a B-, and the Chargers a C+.

Spytek’s moves have included signing center Tyler Linderbaum, wide receiver Jalen Nailor, offensive lineman Spencer Buford, and fullback Connor Heyward. On defense, the Raiders added four potential starters and retained cornerback Eric Stokes.

The only blemish was the Baltimore Ravens backing out of a trade for defensive end Maxx Crosby, but the Raiders kept their elite pass rusher as a consolation.

New head coach Klint Kubiak was also cited as a key addition.

The Broncos made a splash by acquiring wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in a trade and re-signing linebackers Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad. The Chiefs added running back Kenneth Walker III, quarterback Justin Fields, and defensive pieces Khyiris Tonga, Alohi Gilman, and Kader Kohou. The Chargers focused on internal improvements, including the return of tackles Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater and the hiring of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
