Ponce’s two homers, eight RBIs power Cimarron-Memorial past Mojave

Jasmine Ponce had a monster day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two home runs, two doubles and eight RBIs as Cimarron-Memorial rolled to an 18-3 five-inning victory over Mojave in softball Monday.

Several other players turned in standout performances across the valley.

Baseball

Steve Alvarado went 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs to lead Foothill past SLAM! Nevada 16-1 in three innings. Marty Bradley was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Desert Pines, which scored two runs in its final at-bat to edge Cadence 15-14 in six innings. Aiden Farrell went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs and was the winning pitcher as Durango beat Boulder City 13-2 in five innings. Roberto Rosas-Vivar went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs for Bonanza, which scored 17 runs in the first inning to blow past Sunrise Mountain 21-0 in three innings. Taven Thaker went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to help Cheyenne defeat Doral Academy 11-5.

Softball

Nora Anaya threw a three-inning one-hitter and Las Vegas capitalized on three hits and 12 walks to defeat Eldorado 21-1. Cheyenne Davis-Stephens went 3-for-3 with three doubles and three RBIs to help Spring Valley beat Durango 20-2 in three innings. Sophie Gibson went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to lead Legacy past Rancho 15-5 in five innings. Alissa Perkins went 3-for-4 with three doubles and five RBIs as Desert Oasis routed Western 28-0 in three innings.
