The Las Vegas Raiders have added a familiar face to Klint Kubiak’s coaching staff, bringing back Travis Smith as defensive line coach. Smith spent nearly a decade with the organization from 2012 to 2021 in various roles, including assistant defensive line coach working with star edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
Smith most recently served as defensive run game coordinator for the Tennessee Titans in 2025, following three seasons as defensive line coach for the Chicago Bears. He had been expected to move into a senior defensive assistant and pass rush specialist role with the Titans before opting to return to the Raiders.
Smith began his NFL coaching career with the Raiders as a defensive assistant, then moved to defensive quality control coach before coaching outside linebackers. He was on staff when Crosby emerged as a star under defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.
Before the NFL, Smith coached at his alma mater Cal Poly, Santa Monica Junior College, and Colorado.
The Raiders also officially announced Matt Robinson as safeties coach on Monday, a move previously reported.
Kubiak, who formally accepted the head coaching job less than a week ago, now has all three coordinators in place. Andrew Janocko will serve as offensive coordinator for the first time, while holdover Rob Leonard was promoted to defensive coordinator. Crosby shared the team’s announcement of Leonard’s promotion on Instagram, calling him “Legend.”
For special teams, Kubiak hired veteran Joe DeCamillis, 60, who won Super Bowls with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams. DeCamillis previously worked under Kubiak’s father, Gary, with the Broncos. He also led special teams for the Dallas Cowboys, Bears, and Jaguars, and spent the last two seasons as associate head coach and special teams coordinator at South Carolina.
