Three seven-figure wagers have already been placed on Super Bowl 60 between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, with the latest coming from a bettor at Hard Rock Bet in Florida who put $1 million on the Seahawks money line (-230) to win $434,782.61.
Florida personal injury lawyer Dan Newlin was the first to place a $1 million bet on Seattle, and he has pledged to donate all his winnings to pediatric cancer research at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida.
“It’s a tough choice where I’m going to lay my $1 million wager. The game could go either way, but it’s just exciting to do something super cool that can inspire and shine a light on such an important cause like pediatric cancer research,” Newlin said in a post on X (@NewlinLaw). “I rarely lose; I’ve spent my life winning, and I plan on winning this for the kids. They have absolutely nothing to worry about.”
Win or lose, Newlin said he will continue to donate to the hospital’s research. “Regardless of how this bet turns out, my contributions to Nemours won’t stop until a cure for pediatric cancer is found. If we don’t prevail, the kids and cancer research still win.”
Houston furniture store owner Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale made a $2 million bet to win $4 million on the AFC to win the Super Bowl at 2-1 odds at Caesars Sportsbook. A bettor at Circa Sports wagered $1.1 million on the Patriots money line (+188) to win almost $2.1 million.
