Shadow Ridge needed all five sets to subdue host Basic on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, winning 26-28, 25-27, 25-22, 25-15, 15-11. The Mustangs rallied from a two-set deficit to improve their season record.
Senior Porter Hughes led Basic with 21 kills, 14 digs and three blocks in the losing effort. Shadow Ridge’s balanced attack was fueled by Mateo Salomon, who delivered a key ace in the decisive set, and libero Ty Harper, who provided steady passing throughout the match.
Shadow Ridge coach Luke Wilson celebrated the comeback victory as his team found its rhythm after dropping the first two sets. The Wolves, who pushed the Mustangs to the brink, saw strong contributions from setter Derek Dennett and outside hitter Ty Hardy.
Other notable boys volleyball performances included Centennial’s Lincoln Larson (14 kills, 10 digs, 5 blocks) in a sweep of Palo Verde, and Arbor View’s Eric Veith (16 kills, 7 digs, 3 blocks) in a three-set win over Green Valley. Legacy swept Desert Pines behind Jayden Wade-Rosas’ 12 kills, eight assists and eight digs.
In baseball, Silverado senior Preston Clark went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs as the Skyhawks routed Del Sol 20-5. Mater East freshman Ian Denney had four hits including a double and triple, driving in four runs in a 21-3 win over Sunrise Mountain. SLAM! Nevada’s Mark McAllister homered, doubled, drove in five and earned the pitching win in a 19-4 victory over Chaparral.
Softball highlights included Boulder City senior Payton Rogers, who homered, doubled and drove in eight runs in a 20-3 win over The Meadows. GV Christian sophomore Hannah Heaston threw a three-inning no-hitter in a 15-0 shutout of Beatty.
