Thursday’s high school sports slate featured standout performances across baseball, softball and boys volleyball, with Faith Lutheran’s softball team securing a 5-1 win over Desert Oasis.
Baseball
Tech senior Briggs Barlow pitched a three-inning no-hitter in a 15-0 rout of SLAM! Nevada. Silverado senior Giovanni Guariglia doubled and hit his ninth home run of the season to lead a 13-1 five-inning win over Cadence. Centennial senior Dominic Tiberi struck out 10 in a complete-game four-hitter, and the Bulldogs scored six in the sixth to beat Las Vegas 6-1. Canyon Springs sophomore Cruz Monroy had two doubles and three RBIs and earned the win on the mound in an 11-2 victory over Western. Mojave sophomore Brehnden Butac had two triples, two doubles and two RBIs in an 11-7 loss to Doral Academy.
Softball
Bonanza sophomore Ayla Murphy struck out 14 in a six-inning no-hitter and went 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI in an 11-1 win over Cheyenne. Legacy senior Madison Castellon went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and five RBIs in a three-inning 17-0 win over Mojave. Durango freshman Jailynn Ford hit a home run and a triple with four RBIs as the Trailblazers rolled to a three-inning 19-3 victory over Valley. Las Vegas freshman Sophia Ortiz went 4-for-4 with three doubles and an RBI in a 16-6 five-inning win over Rancho. Cimarron-Memorial senior Taylor Ramos went 4-for-4 with two triples, a double and five RBIs in a three-inning 24-4 win over Eldorado.
Boys volleyball
Virgin Valley senior Alonzo Roque had 15 assists and 12 digs in a 17-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-19 win over Doral Academy. Cadence junior Clive Sanidad posted 32 assists, six digs and a block in a 16-25, 25-18, 25-16, 19-25, 15-13 victory over Bonanza.
