Aviators Bash Six-Run Eighth Inning to Top Oklahoma City on School Day

Thousands of elementary school students from across the Las Vegas Valley packed Las Vegas Ballpark on Wednesday for the Aviators’ annual School Day game, where the home team erupted for six runs in the eighth inning to beat the Oklahoma City Comets 11-5.

Students from Evelyn Stuckey Elementary School, Gene Ward Elementary School, E.W. Griffith Elementary School, and other schools filled the stands, cheering on the Triple-A affiliate of the Athletics, who will move to a new Strip ballpark in 2028.

Brett Harris and Zack Gelof each hit two-run homers during the decisive eighth-inning rally. Henry Bolte tied the game with a solo homer in the fifth inning and finished with two hits and two stolen bases. Catcher Brian Serven, who homered and tripled, is 9-for-10 this season.

Jack Perkins struck out four over three scoreless innings of relief, and Wander Suero (1-0) earned the win with 1⅔ innings of work. The Aviators improved to 4-1.
