Super Bowl Sunday brought a flurry of big wagers to Las Vegas sportsbooks, headlined by a $1 million bet on the New England Patriots at BetMGM. The bettor took the Patriots +4.5 at -105 against the Seattle Seahawks, a line that held steady at most books with the South Point the lone holdout at -5.
Station Casinos reported three six-figure money-line bets on New England, including a $315,000 wager placed Saturday at Red Rock Resort that would pay $645,750 at +205. On Sunday, Green Valley Ranch took two $100,000 money-line bets to win $200,000 each and a $110,000 bet on under 45.5 to win $100,000.
“We continue to see some Seattle money on the point spread at -4½ and people that like the Patriots are really heavy on the Patriots money line,” said Chuck Esposito, Red Rock Resort sportsbook director. “We’re still in a position where the best-case scenario for us is the Seahawks win by 1 to 4 but don’t cover.”
At the Westgate SuperBook, vice president John Murray noted a heavy one-way flow of Seattle money over the previous 24 hours. The book raised the Patriots money line to +220 to attract action, taking several large bets on New England at prices between 220 and 218 before settling at +210. “Seattle winning but not covering is also good for us,” Murray said.
The South Point flipped between -5 and -4.5 multiple times. Director Chris Andrews said, “We’re writing a ton of business. It switches all the time. Whatever is the last bet.”
A Caesars Sportsbook bettor in Nevada wagered $200,000 on the Seahawks money line at -240, a bet that would pay $283,333.33. Hard Rock Bet, which operates outside Nevada, took a $100,000 four-leg same game parlay that could win $1,044,479.90, and also a $280,000 two-leg parlay to win $1.62 million on Seahawks -4.5 and Patriots over 20.5 team total.
Ticket count at Station Casinos was 64% on Seattle against the spread, 62% on the over, and 50-50 on the money line.
