Shadow Ridge sweeps Coronado in boys volleyball, Salomon leads with 10 kills

The Shadow Ridge boys volleyball team swept Coronado 25-23, 25-20, 25-21 on Thursday, improving to 2-0 on the season. Sophomore Mateo Salomon recorded 10 kills, including a game-winning ace that sealed the straight-set victory.

In other baseball action, Bishop Gorman junior Logan Grubbs delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Gaels rallied for three runs to beat Basic 3-2. Sierra Vista senior Michael Alvarado went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and four runs scored in a 6-2 win over Desert Oasis. Western junior Adrian Diaz went 4-for-5 with three doubles and five RBIs in a 13-3 victory over SLAM! Nevada. Clark sophomore Ryland Gregorich struck out seven while throwing a five-inning one-hitter in a 10-0 win over Cimarron-Memorial. Centennial sophomore Terrell Otis hit two home runs and drove in three runs, but the Bulldogs fell 11-8 to Shadow Ridge. Spring Valley junior Vincent Perrone had a double, a triple and three RBIs in a 12-1 win over Mojave. Desert Oasis senior Colin Walker struck out three while tossing a three-inning one-hitter in a 15-0 victory over Carson.

In boys volleyball, Green Valley junior Alex Abed had 14 digs in a 25-20, 25-17, 25-17 win over Tech. Eldorado junior Alan Ceja logged 36 assists in a 25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20 win over Amplus Academy. Sierra Vista senior Jeremiah James finished with 16 assists, three kills and three aces in a 25-16, 25-19, 25-23 win over Spring Valley. Arbor View junior Keagan Sugden racked up 32 assists, 11 digs and two kills in a 25-12, 25-16, 17-25, 25-20 win over Foothill.

In softball, Perry (Ariz.) defeated Centennial 7-3.
