The Mustangs needed only five innings to dispatch the Cougars on Friday, winning 12-1 at Shadow Ridge High School. The game ended early under the 10-run mercy rule.
Melia Aionaaka led the charge both at the plate and in the circle. She went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a triple, and picked up the win as a pitcher, allowing four hits and one run over four innings while striking out four.
Shadow Ridge improved to 4-0 overall and in 5A Southern League play. Coronado dropped to 2-1 in league and overall.
Shadow Ridge will face Palo Verde at Majestic Park on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Coronado travels to Green Valley for a 3:30 p.m. game the same day.
