Oregon QB Dante Moore’s Return Shrinks Raiders’ Draft Options

The Las Vegas Raiders, holders of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, have one fewer quarterback to consider after Oregon’s Dante Moore announced he will return to school.

Moore, 20, revealed his decision Wednesday on ESPN, ending speculation he might enter the draft. He had been projected as the second-best quarterback prospect behind Indiana’s Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza.

“When it comes to me just making my decision, of course I want to feel most prepared and what’s best for my situation, especially as a quarterback. And with my decision, it’s been very tough. I prayed a lot about it, talked to many people, my mentors, and people I just look up to, and with that being said, of course I’ll be coming back to Oregon for one more year, being able to play for the Oregon Ducks and reach our goal and be national champions,” Moore said.

This season, Moore completed nearly 72% of his passes for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Oregon finished 13-2, capped by a 56-22 loss to Indiana in the College Football Playoff semifinal. Moore threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns but committed three first-half turnovers that led to 21 Indiana points.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning had voiced hope that Moore would return. “Dante has been exceptional. It’s gone right for us 13 times. It didn’t go right tonight. You can’t let that overshadow (the season). Every one of us has unbelievable disappointment. Learn from it,” Lanning said after the loss.

Moore’s return comes amid roster changes: ex-Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola is transferring to Oregon, while tight end Kenyon Sadiq and safety Dillon Thieneman declared for the NFL draft. Sadiq, who had 51 catches for 560 yards and eight touchdowns, is considered a first-round prospect. Thieneman posted 96 tackles and two interceptions.

Key players staying include center Iapani Laloulu, a Remington Trophy finalist, tight end Jamari Johnson, and defensive ends Teitum Tuioti and Matayo Uiagalelei.
