Maxx Crosby undergoes knee surgery, vows ‘200% recovery’

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby underwent surgery on his left knee Wednesday, addressing an injury that plagued him throughout the season and sidelined him for the final two games.

The 28-year-old star posted on social media from his hospital bed, showing a large brace on his knee, and declared the procedure a success. “Clean Up Time,” he wrote. “Successful Surgery. Expecting 200% recovery.”

Crosby had visited Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles earlier this week, hoping to avoid going under the knife. ElAttrache, a renowned orthopedic surgeon, has previously operated on Crosby’s knee and shoulder.

“You either make excuses or you make history,” Crosby posted. “Great risk=great reward. We got work to do. Reset and reload. I wouldn’t change it for nothing. The scars are what made me and provide true clarity and growth. Year 8 will be the greatest year yet. Undisputed.”

The defensive end was placed on injured reserve with two games left in the season after battling a lingering knee issue. He initially left the Raiders’ facility in frustration when told he would not play those final games, but he returned to be with his teammates last week.

General manager John Spytek, asked Monday whether Crosby is “untouchable” in trade talks, did not give a definitive answer. “I love Maxx. He embodies what a Raider is. I’ve been pretty upfront with that from the day that I sat up here almost a year ago, and I continue to believe that,” Spytek said.
