Coronado’s Anderson Lee fires 68 to lead team to 5A Desert League golf win

Coronado’s boys golf team continued its dominant start to the season Wednesday, claiming both the individual and team titles at a Class 5A Desert League match held at Angel Park Golf Club’s Mountain Course.

Anderson Lee carded a 3-under 68 to take medalist honors, two shots clear of teammates Brent Chung and Jiho Park, who tied for second at even-par 71. The Cougars posted a team total of par 284, well ahead of second-place Palo Verde at 31-over 315.

Lee, a senior, is aiming to help Coronado capture a third straight 5A state championship. The Cougars have won the past two state titles and appear poised for another deep postseason run after this early-season performance.

Other schools competing included Centennial, Desert Oasis, Green Valley, and Liberty. The match featured strong showings from Palo Verde’s Tripp Hildreth, Matthew Maurice, and Wynn Roongphornchai, as well as Centennial’s Matthew Utter and Kyle Cunningham, and Desert Oasis’ Nick Flores.
