Chelsea Gray wins Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament, $200K prize

Three months after helping the Las Vegas Aces win a third WNBA championship, Chelsea Gray added another trophy to her collection. The veteran guard won the Unrivaled offseason league’s 1-on-1 tournament on Saturday in Miami, taking home a $200,000 prize.

Gray, representing Rose BC, entered as the No. 2 seed and defeated Phantom guard Natasha Cloud 11-10 in the first round. She then beat Aces teammate Jackie Young 12-6 in the second round, followed by a dominant 11-2 quarterfinal win over top seed Paige Bueckers. In the semifinals, Gray edged former Aces teammate Kelsey Plum 12-9 before topping Mist guard Allisha Gray 7-6 in the final.

“Grateful, humble, excited everything, man,” Gray said. “A lot of people didn’t pick me to be sitting here, talking to y’all. I keep on surprising people. I love it.”

Allisha Gray praised her opponent afterward: “If I had to lose, at least I lost to the Point Gawd. Even though I’m disappointed I lost, you can’t say I lost to a scrub.”

Gray helped develop the Unrivaled league alongside Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. She called the 1-on-1 format a throwback. “It takes you back to your childhood when you’re at the park,” she said. “Imagine just being able to do that on an actual basketball court against other great players and compete.”

Gray now has four WNBA rings and is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. She and Young will represent the USA at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico next month.
