Allegiant Stadium gears up for 2027 CFP championship after Indiana’s surprise title win

Las Vegas officially took over hosting duties for the 2027 College Football Playoff national championship game during a news conference Tuesday in Miami, just days after the Indiana Hoosiers capped a perfect 16-0 season with a victory over Miami (Florida) at Hard Rock Stadium.

The game will be played Jan. 25, 2027, at Allegiant Stadium, marking the first time the title game has been held in Nevada. The start time has not been announced, but this year’s kickoff was at 4:30 p.m. PT.

How Las Vegas won the bid

Las Vegas was officially awarded the 2027 championship on Jan. 24, 2025. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority approved a contract of up to $40 million to host the game. After the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act in 2018, the city has become a popular host for major championship events.

Stadium and transportation

Allegiant Stadium, located at 3333 Al Davis Way, is adjacent to I-15 between Russell Road and Tropicana Avenue. Pedestrians from the Strip can use the Hacienda Bridge, while rideshare pickup and drop-off are in Lot N. Harry Reid International Airport is less than five miles away. The RTC’s Deuce bus runs 24/7 every 15 minutes, with the closest stop near Mandalay Bay; a 24-hour pass costs $8.

Parking is available in onsite lots and nearby private garages, and spots can be reserved through SpotHero. The stadium is cashless, requiring debit/credit cards or mobile payment. Tailgating is allowed in most surrounding spaces, but must be broken down when the event begins, and lots clear one hour after the game ends.

Tickets and costs

Most tickets are allocated to the two participating teams and sold directly through each school, though secondary market options exist. The average purchase price for the 2026 game was $4,330, making it the most expensive national title game on record, and prices at Allegiant Stadium are expected to be higher.

Early favorites and future

Ohio State is the +625 favorite at Caesars sportsbook to win the 2027 title, followed by Indiana and Notre Dame at 7-1, Texas at +750, Oregon at +775, Georgia at 8-1, and LSU at 11-1. The 12-team playoff field is expected to be announced Dec. 6, 2026, and the CFP committee could expand to 16 teams for the 2026-27 season.

New Orleans will host the 2028 game at Caesars Superdome, and the Tampa Bay area will host in 2029 at Raymond James Stadium.
