Dorofeyev dealt to Rangers as Knights recoup 2026 first-rounder

The Vegas Golden Knights shook up the NHL Draft’s opening night by sending their top goal scorer to the Eastern Conference.

Pavel Dorofeyev, who led the Knights with 37 goals this past season and amassed 72 over the last two campaigns, was traded to the New York Rangers. The pending restricted free agent was expected to hit the open market Wednesday.

In return, Vegas received the 26th overall pick in the current draft, the 92nd pick in the third round, and a top-10 protected first-round selection in 2028.

Dorofeyev’s departure leaves a significant void in the Knights’ offensive corps after two consecutive 30-plus goal seasons.
