Boise State to honor Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty with orange hash marks on blue turf

Boise State is giving Ashton Jeanty a permanent place on its iconic blue field. The program announced that the hash marks at the 2-yard lines will be painted orange in honor of the former Broncos running back, now with the Las Vegas Raiders. The same treatment will be applied to the 11-yard line for legendary quarterback Kellen Moore, now the New Orleans Saints head coach.

“Permanently marking the greats who defined the culture,” a social media post said in announcing the decision.

Jeanty’s record-setting 2024 season included 2,601 rushing yards, a Heisman Trophy runner-up finish, and the highest draft selection in Boise State history (sixth overall). As a Raiders rookie, he ran for 975 yards and five touchdowns, adding 55 receptions for 346 yards and five more scores.

The Raiders recently added Arkansas running back Mike Washington Jr., whom Jeanty praised for their complementary styles. “I think our run styles will definitely complement each other,” Jeanty said on a YouTube livestream. “I’m excited for when he gets in the building. We can build this rushing attack and do something special.”

Washington described the pairing as “thunder and lightning” for the Raiders’ backfield.
