Briggs Barlow no-hitter highlights Thursday’s prep action

Tech senior Briggs Barlow threw a three-inning no-hitter, striking out six and adding a triple and three RBIs at the plate, as the Roadrunners routed Chaparral 22-0 on Thursday. It was one of several standout pitching and hitting performances across Southern Nevada high school baseball, softball and boys volleyball.

Baseball

Bishop Gorman edged Faith Lutheran 7-5 in a key matchup. Crusaders senior Rookie Shepard went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs in the losing effort. Silverado’s Preston Clark went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs in a 16-1 win over SLAM! Nevada. The Meadows’ Hudson Falb homered, tripled and doubled, driving in three runs in a 14-4 victory over Virgin Valley. Mater East’s Colin Tocker had a double, a triple and two RBIs in a 14-4 win over Canyon Springs.

Softball

Boulder City blanked Democracy Prep 18-0, Pahrump Valley shut out Moapa Valley 15-0, and Virgin Valley defeated The Meadows 16-2.

Boys volleyball

Centennial swept Foothill 25-14, 25-21, 25-22 behind senior Lincoln Larson’s nine kills and four aces. Sierra Vista’s Jake Nezhoda recorded 10 kills and six blocks in a four-set win over Green Valley (17-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-16). Moapa Valley’s Caden Rawson had seven kills and six aces in a sweep of American Heritage (25-10, 25-6, 25-19). Foothill’s Reece Velasco posted 13 assists and six digs in the loss.
