Porter Hughes recorded 20 kills, nine digs, two aces and two blocks as Basic outlasted Foothill 25-23, 25-23, 24-26, 14-25, 15-10 in a 5A boys volleyball match Tuesday. Toller Trummell had 13 kills, 10 digs, five aces and two blocks for the Falcons in the losing effort.
In baseball, Nicholas Armstrong launched two home runs and drove in five runs to lead Clark to a 17-2, four-inning win over Mojave. Koby Perry tossed a three-inning no-hitter as Virgin Valley blanked Sunrise Mountain 14-0.
On the softball diamond, AliAna Edwards went 3-for-3 with a home run, triple and five RBIs as Foothill routed Desert Pines 25-0. Madison Pitts struck out 11 in a five-inning no-hitter for Faith Lutheran in an 11-0 win over Bonanza.
Emiko Kalani was the winning pitcher and also homered to help Mojave rally for an 8-7, eight-inning victory over Canyon Springs. Taylor Johns went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs as Palo Verde beat Bishop Gorman 8-3.
In other boys volleyball action, RJ Regalado posted 36 assists, 17 digs and two blocks as Centennial swept Arbor View 25-22, 25-21, 25-23. Mikelle Reyes had 20 assists and eight kills in Las Vegas’ sweep of Sunrise Mountain. Graham Blanchard recorded nine kills, seven digs and three blocks for Arbor View in the loss.
Centennial’s baseball team defeated Basic 5-3. In softball, Centennial topped Liberty 15-5 in six innings, and Shadow Ridge edged Coronado 8-4.
