Porter Hughes delivered 20 kills to lead Basic to a five-set victory over Henderson rival Foothill on Tuesday night, 25-23, 25-23, 24-26, 14-25, 15-10.

The Wolves (18-7, 2-1 Class 5A Southern League) jumped out to a two-set lead before the Falcons rallied to force a decisive fifth set. Basic closed strong, winning the final set 15-10.

Ty Hardy contributed 10 kills and 16 digs for Basic, while Derek Dennett dished out 23 assists.

Yeheshua Ruiz led Foothill (14-9, 3-1) with 22 kills.

Basic travels to Green Valley on Thursday at 6 p.m. Foothill faces No. 2 Palo Verde on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
