Las Vegas Ballpark Gets 97,500 Square Feet of New Sod Ahead of Busy Spring Schedule

Workers at Las Vegas Ballpark began laying more than 97,500 square feet of fresh grass on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, in a three-day project that will ready the field for a packed slate of events starting in late February. Aviators head groundskeeper Tanner Dickherber was among those installing the new sod.

The new turf will first be tested during the Live Like Lou Las Vegas College Baseball Classic from Feb. 27 to March 1, featuring Arizona, Oregon, UC-Irvine and Vanderbilt. That event will be followed by Big League Weekend on March 7-8, when the MLB Athletics face the Los Angeles Angels. The Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators open their season at home on March 27.
