The Las Vegas Raiders have traded defensive end Tyree Wilson, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, to the New Orleans Saints. The deal, completed Saturday, sent Wilson and a seventh-round pick to New Orleans in exchange for the 150th overall selection.
The Raiders used that pick to draft Arizona safety Dalton Johnson.
Wilson, who played collegiately at Texas Tech, recorded 91 tackles and 12 sacks over 50 career games with Las Vegas. He was drafted as an edge rusher but also saw time at defensive tackle in passing situations as the team tried to maximize his versatility.
“It just never consistently happened,” a team source said, and now Wilson will look for a fresh start with the Saints.
