Johns’ two-run homer powers Palo Verde past Shadow Ridge in 5A showdown

Georgia commit Taylor Johns launched a two-run home run and Alexis Kearnes collected three hits and two RBIs as top-ranked Palo Verde defeated No. 3 Shadow Ridge 5-3 on Thursday at Shadow Ridge High School.

Kearnes went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Panthers (12-1, 12-1 5A Southern League). Devaeh Crawford drove in two runs for Shadow Ridge (14-5, 11-3).

Palo Verde next plays at Green Valley at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Shadow Ridge travels to Centennial for a 3:30 p.m. game the same day.
