Arbor View edges Legacy 2-1 in extra innings behind strong pitching

Arbor View defeated Legacy 2-1 in eight innings on Monday at Legacy High School. The game was a pitchers’ duel, with both teams getting strong performances on the mound.

Top performances

Baseball

  • Spencer Aten, Boulder City: The junior went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs to lead the Eagles past Pahrump Valley 12-2 in five innings.
  • Hudson Ciulla, Bishop Gorman: The senior struck out 11 while pitching a complete-game three-hitter to help the Gaels defeat Bonanza 6-0.
  • Aiden Farrell, Durango: The junior had a home run, a triple and an RBI, and was the winning pitcher in the Trailblazers’ 5-3 win over Sierra Vista.
  • Camrith Fernandes, Cadence: The senior went 3-for-3 with two doubles and seven RBIs as the Cougars defeated Chaparral 19-9 in five innings.
  • Giovanni Guariglia, Silverado: The senior struck out 14 while pitching a complete-game three-hitter, and also homered at the plate for the Skyhawks, who beat Tech 7-1.

  • Mariah Gray, Pahrump Valley: The sophomore went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs in the Trojans’ six-inning 10-0 win over Boulder City.
  • Cassidy Infante, Desert Oasis: The senior went 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs to help the Diamondbacks cruise past Valley 20-2 in three innings.
  • Chase Magdaleno, Coronado: The senior went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs in the Cougars 9-6 victory over Bishop Gorman.
  • Kylie Neil, Moapa Valley: The senior had a home run, a double and four RBIs, and was the winning pitcher for the Pirates in their four-inning 7-0 win over The Meadows.
  • Madison Pitts, Faith Lutheran: The freshman struck out 10 while tossing a four-inning two-hitter to lead the Crusaders to a 19-1 victory over Durango.

Boys volleyball

  • Zee Chavis, Liberty: The senior logged 35 assists and six service aces in the Patriots’ 25-16, 25-13, 25-20 victory over Legacy.
  • Carter Larson, Green Valley: The senior had nine kills, three aces and three blocks to help the Gators beat Sunrise Mountain 25-12, 25-8, 25-19.
