Basic junior Ace Sapp crushed a three-run homer in the fourth inning to power the Wolves to a 4-2 victory over Arbor View on Friday. The win highlighted a busy day of high school sports across Southern Nevada.
In other baseball results, Spring Valley edged Pahrump Valley 1-0 on a walk-off RBI single by senior Jeremy Correia in the seventh inning. Bonanza’s John Willard pitched a four-inning no-hitter in a 15-0 rout of SLAM! Nevada. Tech rallied in the seventh to beat Foothill 6-5, led by junior Quinthus Mason’s home run, double and three RBIs.
On the softball diamond, Palo Verde senior Taylor Johns smashed two home runs and a double to fuel a 9-6 win over Centennial. Legacy freshman Audrie McClerkin struck out 10 in a four-inning no-hitter and also went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs as the Longhorns blanked Eldorado 17-0. Las Vegas freshman Ailema Rodriguez-Hernandez went 4-for-5 with six RBIs and earned the pitching win in a 20-10 victory over Mojave. Liberty freshman Charli Taylor homered twice and drove in five runs while also getting the win in the circle in a 14-5 defeat of Basic.
In boys volleyball, Tech junior Brayden Cabael posted 37 assists, 10 digs, five kills and four aces to lead the Roadrunners past Bonanza 26-24, 20-15, 25-19, 25-3. Amplus Academy’s Blake Taylor notched 24 kills, 13 digs, five aces and three blocks in a 3-1 win over Chaparral.
