Golden Knights’ Shea Theodore could return against Minnesota Wild | Golden Knights

Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore is a game-time decision for Tuesday’s matchup against the Minnesota Wild after missing the past month with a broken wrist.

Theodore has not played since getting hurt Feb. 12 in the 4 Nations Face-Off. He’s missed the Knights’ 14 games since the break.

“It’s been long, for sure,” Theodore said. “You never want to miss any time. Unfortunate injury, but I feel good and hopefully I feel stronger.”

Theodore skated with Brayden McNabb during line rushes at morning skate, an indication he will return, but coach Bruce Cassidy said it will be Theodore’s call to make.

The Knights activated left wing Raphael Lavoie from injured reserve and assigned him to their American Hockey League affiliate in Henderson in a corresponding move.

Theodore was having the best season of his career before the injury, scoring 48 points in 55 games. He’s four points shy of tying his career-high set in the 2021-22 season.

Theodore said he’s hoping to bring energy with 12 games left in the regular season. The Knights enter Tuesday with a five-point lead on the Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers for first place in the Pacific Division.

“This time of year, any kind of boost is good,” Theodore said. “I’m feeling fresh, kind of resting my legs over the last couple of weeks.”

Cassidy said the Knights have missed Theodore’s play in the neutral zone and his ability to be a one-man breakout.

“That part of our game was still solid, but that’s one of his best attributes,” Cassidy said.

The Knights will not have center Tomas Hertl during this three-game road trip due to an upper-body injury he suffered Sunday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Nicolas Roy will replace Hertl at second-line center, while center William Karlsson will take Hertl’s place on the first power-play unit. Hertl leads the Knights with 14 power-play goals.

Brett Howden will move to Roy’s spot at fourth-line center.

Projected lineup:

Ivan Barbashev — Jack Eichel — Mark Stone

Brandon Saad — Nicolas Roy — Pavel Dorofeyev

Victor Olofsson — William Karlsson — Reilly Smith

Tanner Pearson — Brett Howden — Keegan Kolesar

Noah Hanifin — Alex Pietrangelo

Brayden McNabb — Shea Theodore

Nic Hague — Zach Whitecloud
