NFL bettor turns 10 cents into $14K after hitting 1st TD scorer parlay | Betting

A “dime” means $1,000 in betting parlance.

On Sunday, a DraftKings bettor turned an actual dime — 10 cents — into $13,721.40 after hitting a five-leg first touchdown scorer parlay.

The gambler correctly predicted that Travis Etienne Jr. (8-1), Aaron Jones (8-1), Kyle Pitts (10-1), Tony Pollard (10-1) and Rashid Shaheed (13-1) would score the first touchdown of their NFL games.

The parlay, confirmed by DraftKings, was a 137,213 to 1 long shot. DraftKings doesn’t operate in Nevada.

One social media commenter said under a screenshot of the bet: “Imagine if bro had a dollar. He’d have 130k. Insane.”

Etienne scored on a 1-yard run for the Jaguars with 4:31 left in the first quarter of his team’s 20-17 loss to the Dolphins. Jones got a 3-yard rushing touchdown for the Vikings with 3:50 left in the first quarter of Minnesota’s 28-6 win over the Giants.

Pitts scored the Falcons’ lone touchdown in an 18-10 loss to the Steelers, hauling in a 12-yard pass from quarterback Kirk Cousins with 32 seconds left in the second quarter. Pollard had a 26-yard touchdown run for the Titans with 41 seconds left in the first quarter of Tennessee’s 24-17 loss to the Bears.

The bettor didn’t have to sweat Shaheed despite him having the longest odds. Shaheed had a 59-yard touchdown catch from Saints quarterback Derek Carr on the first possession of New Orleans’ 47-10 rout of Carolina.

College football line moves

Circa Sports opens college football lines weekly at 11 a.m. Sunday, when mostly sharp bettors fire wagers.

“The guys who mainly bet these when we open these are definitely professionals,” said Circa oddsmaker Nick Bogdanovich, who in August was inducted into the Sports Gambling Hall of Fame.

Here’s a glance at some of the biggest line moves in the first 24 hours the lines were on the board.

Minnesota is a 16½-point home favorite over UNR after the line opened at 11½. Bogdanovich said he’s not sure why the sharps pounded the Golden Gophers.

“Minnesota had a nice game last week against a cupcake,” he said. “But (UNR) has been competitive in all three games.”

The Wolf Pack (1-2, 2-1 ATS) have been outscored by only six points in their three games.

Duke shot up from a 12-point favorite over UConn to -17.

Texas was bet up from -30 to -34½ over UTSA after whipping Michigan 31-12 on Saturday.

“I can understand the move. San Antonio is playing poorly, and Texas is playing well,” Bogdanovich said. “Obviously they thought we opened a little short there. My guess is the wiseguys figured they better beat the public in on that game.”

Sharps also bet up big favorites Arkansas (from -21 to -24 over UAB), Auburn (from -24 to -28 over New Mexico), Iowa (from -20 to -23 over Troy), Miami (from -34 to -37 over Ball State) and N.C. State (from -19 to -22 over Louisiana Tech).

“If you see these professionals bet big favorites early, that means they think they’re not going to see that number again,” Bogdanovich said. “I’m sure that’s a lot of their thought process.”

Rivalry games

Oregon was as high as a 17-point favorite at Oregon State before the line dipped to 16.

“Oregon has been a flop,” Bogdanovich said. “In two games, they’ve only missed the spread by a total of 54 points. Point spread-wise, they’ve been, by far, the biggest disappointment.”

The Ducks beat Boise State 37-34 on Saturday as 17½-point favorites after edging Idaho 24-14 as 49½-point favorites.

Colorado (1-1, 0-2 ATS) has inched up from -7 to -7½ at Colorado State after losing 28-10 to Nebraska as a 6½-point road underdog.

“Any time Colorado plays, it’s interesting. The public loves being involved with Prime Time,” Bogdanovich said of Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders. “It’ll be interesting to see how Colorado rebounds. Everyone is polarized by the Colorado program, to see if Prime can turn it around.”
