The Las Vegas Aces will not be celebrating their recent WNBA championships at the White House. A team spokesperson confirmed Monday that the two-time defending champions did not receive an invitation from President Donald Trump, who has not hosted any NBA or WNBA team since taking office.
The Aces won the WNBA title in 2022 and 2023 and visited the White House under President Joe Biden both times. In 2024, they were eliminated in the semifinals. Now, as the 2025 season approaches, the team will not get a chance to continue the tradition.
Las Vegas is scheduled to play the Washington Mystics on July 22 in the nation’s capital. That game would have been the most likely date for a championship ceremony, but the team expects no such event to occur.
A’ja Wilson, the Aces’ star forward, previously helped arrange the 2022 visit by replying to a Biden social media post congratulating the Vegas Golden Knights. This time, no invitation came.
The Aces join other professional basketball champions who have not been honored by the current administration.
