Raiders take Jack Bech of TCU in 2nd round of NFL draft after trading down | Raiders News

The Raiders selected TCU wide receiver Jack Bech with the 58th overall pick in the second round of the NFL draft Friday.

Bech started his college career at LSU before transferring to TCU for his final two years. With the Horned Frogs, he caught 74 passes for 1,180 yards and nine touchdowns. He projects as a starter alongside Jakobi Meyers.

Listed at 6 feet, 1 inch and 214 pounds, Bech is the second offensive weapon the Raiders have added, joining first-round pick Ashton Jeanty.

With their first pick of the third round, the Raiders drafted Iowa State cornerback Darien Porter, a 6-4-inch, 195-pounder.

Bech has been on the Raiders’ radar throughout the draft evaluation process, including at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, when he reeled in a walk-off touchdown catch. Bech was named the game’s MVP after coming up with six catches for 68 yards and the game-winning grab.

The performance culminated an emotional week for Bech. His brother, Tiger, was among 14 people killed in a terrorist attack early on New Year’s Day in New Orleans when a man sped a truck through the French Quarter. Jack Bech wore Tiger’s No. 7 jersey during the Senior Bowl to honor his brother, a former Princeton football player.

The selection of Bech completed a busy second round for the Raiders, who traded down twice in the round to pick up extra draft capital.

In a trade with the Texans, the club agreed to move from the 48th overall pick to No. 58. The Texans sent the Raiders their third-round pick at No. 99.

Earlier on Friday, the Raiders agreed to a deal with the Dolphins to move down from the fifth pick in the round — No. 37 overall — to the 48th overall pick, in the second round.

The Dolphins also sent the Raiders the 98th overall pick in the third round and the 135th pick in the fourth round. The Raiders gave the 143rd pick (fifth round) to the Dolphins in the deal.

The Raiders have three more picks Friday at No. 68, No. 98 and No. 99.

As of right now, they are slated to make six picks in rounds four through seven Saturday.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
