Ryan O’Hearn collected a career-high six RBIs on a home run, double and single, powering the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 12-4 rout of the Athletics on Wednesday night in West Sacramento, California.
The Pirates amassed 16 hits and scored at least 10 runs for the seventh time this season, matching their 2025 total. Marcell Ozuna also homered for Pittsburgh, launching a 448-foot solo shot to center field in the seventh inning.
Braxton Ashcraft (6-3) struck out seven over six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits. Pittsburgh jumped ahead early, sending its first four batters to reach safely. O’Hearn’s two-run double in the first made it 3-0, and his two-run homer to left in the fourth extended the lead to 7-0.
Jacob Wilson’s two-run single in the sixth cut the deficit to 7-2, but the Pirates answered with five runs in the seventh. Ozuna’s solo shot, a bases-loaded walk to Spencer Horwitz, a sacrifice fly by Brandon Lowe, and O’Hearn’s two-run single capped the outburst.
Henry Bolte homered for the A’s in the seventh, and Zack Gelof went deep in the ninth to extend his major-league-leading hitting streak to 21 games. Aaron Civale (5-3) took the loss, surrendering six runs and nine hits in three-plus innings.
