The Professional Women’s Hockey League’s Las Vegas expansion team has named Kim Weiss as its inaugural head coach, the franchise announced Monday. Weiss, who spent the past two seasons with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League, becomes the first bench boss for the club ahead of its debut season.
Weiss served as an assistant coach with the Eagles, the primary affiliate of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche. She was promoted to that role in 2026 after initially joining the organization as a video assistant, making her the second woman in NHL/AHL history to hold a full-time assistant coaching position.
“It’s an honor to become a head coach at the highest level of the women’s game, and I couldn’t be more excited to join PWHL Las Vegas,” Weiss said in a statement.
