Derek Stevens, owner of Circa Resort & Casino, has extended a unique invitation to Freddy, the German soccer fan whose enthusiastic reactions to American culture have captured millions online. Stevens offered to fly Freddy and his friends from Oklahoma City to Las Vegas on the Circa private jet for a U.S.-Australia World Cup watch party Friday at Stadium Swim.
“No trip to the States is legit w/out a trip to Las Vegas,” Stevens posted on X. “Hey @FreddyLA7 how does this sound? I’ll send the @CircaLasVegas jet to pick you & friends up in OKC to attend our @USMNT Watch Party @stadiumswim.”
As of Monday evening, Stevens said he hadn’t heard back from Freddy, but the post had already drawn nearly 1.5 million views. “I can’t believe this. This thing went crazy. This Freddy guy, the whole world wants to know about him,” Stevens told the Review-Journal. “This is definitely my biggest, craziest tweet ever. Seventeen thousand likes, 1.4 million views, 1,000 retweets. The amount of texts and DMs I got is ridiculous.”
Freddy, whose X handle is @FreddyLA7, has seen his follower count soar from 11,000 to more than 622,000 in less than a week. His viral posts include visits to Taco Bell—which he called “the holy land”—and Waffle House, where he rated a 1 a.m. meal “10/10.” He also marveled at Wendy’s, Walmart, and Buc-ees during a road trip from Atlanta to Houston.
In Houston, former NFL star J.J. Watt treated Freddy and his friends to a suite at the five-star Post Oak Hotel stocked with food and gifts, including a Texans jersey signed by Watt. Freddy, who obscures his face in all photos with an image of his soccer hero Cristiano Ronaldo, attended Germany’s 7-1 win over Curacao on Sunday in its World Cup opener.
Freddy also received an invitation from country music star Ella Langley to her concert in Oklahoma City after declaring her his “best road trip discovery.” In Alabama, he praised Americans after a hotel receptionist drove him to the stadium to avoid walking in the rain.
The U.S. and Australia match kicks off at noon Friday. A free pep rally begins at 9 a.m. at the Fremont Street Experience, with face painting and photo opportunities with a cutout of USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams. A meet-and-greet with former AFC Bournemouth forward Steve Fletcher will be held at 10 a.m. at Circa’s Overhang Bar, above the world’s largest sportsbook.
“Freddy has not reached out to myself or our team, but we certainly got the word out that we’re the No. 1 place to go watch our World Cup games,” Stevens said. “We’re doing every single World Cup game with full audio at Stadium Swim.”
