Basic junior Kenny Williams poured in a game-high 35 points to power the Wolves to a 75-46 victory over Chaparral on Friday. Williams was the top scorer among a slew of standout performances across Southern Nevada high school basketball and flag football.
In boys basketball, Desert Pines sophomore Aaron McMorran scored 24 points in a 74-63 win over Las Vegas. Arbor View junior Landon Woods posted 19 points and eight rebounds to help the Aggies edge Canyon Springs 61-58. Legacy senior Micah Cazar contributed 17 points in a 61-51 win over Palo Verde. The Meadows senior Grant Moses had 14 points in a 57-36 victory against Coral Academy.
On the girls side, Del Sol sophomore Sabrina Stewart racked up 23 points in an 82-40 rout of Doral Academy. Faith Lutheran sophomore Caylyn Young scored a game-high 22 points in an 80-49 win over Sunrise Mountain. Cimarron-Memorial junior Jasmine Ponce recorded a triple-double with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals in a 50-16 victory over Silverado. Liberty senior Samantha Chesnut tallied 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 60-39 win against Palo Verde. Pahrump Valley sophomore Kaitlyn Brown scored 18 points as the Trojans beat Moapa Valley 37-27.
In flag football, Sierra Vista junior Amaya Wusstig completed 20 of 22 passes for 274 yards and four touchdowns in a 46-0 shutout of Chaparral. Clark freshman Cassiah Banks caught 11 passes for 138 yards and four touchdowns and added an interception in a 31-0 win over Eldorado. Cadence junior Patricia Monacelli had four catches for 86 yards and four TDs plus two interceptions in a 32-6 victory against Amplus Academy. Arbor View junior Karah Foss threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-6 win over Canyon Springs. Shadow Ridge senior Jaylani Palmer passed for two TDs and rushed for another in a 26-13 win over Palo Verde.
